In
2001, Steve Jobs
announced the iPod®, a sleek 1000 song digital music player for
the Mac. He
also released iTunes® music jukebox. In 2002 he announced
iPods would know be compatible with Windows PC's. He released
the video iPod®
shortly after the iPod Nano. Both of these devices
were remarkably thin, the nano being the
slimmest mp3 player and the iPod® being about
half as thin as competitors iPods. In Febuary of 2006,
iTunes® sold its 1 billionth
song. Steve's need for creating the best product availible helped make
the iPod®
and iTunes® so popular. While many
other music stores were difficult to use and had limited libraries, he
ensured the iPod was intuitive, with only five buttons, and made sure
iTunes® delievered the latest
and best media avialible. When he introduced the new iPod® he created a whole new
video market as TV networks rushed to have their content on iTunes®.
Steve Jobs's attention to detail, ability to
predict what's next, and obsession for perfectionism has been a main
driving force in why every 3 out of 4 music listeners have white
earpuds dangling from their heads.
